abhis3k/xiccd

( forked from dschubert/xiccd )

Project ID: 89804

Description

A simple bridge between colord and X. It does the following tasks:

*Enumerates displays and register them in colord. *Creates default ICC profiles based on EDID data. *Applies ICC profiles provided by colord. *Maintains user's private ICC storage directory.

The primary goal of xiccd is providing color profile support for desktop environments other than Gnome and KDE (Xfce, LXDE, and probably others) that don't support native color management yet.

It does basically the same as the gnome-settings-daemon color plugin or colord-kde but doesn't depend on any particular desktop. It doesn't even depend on GTK so it doesn't create a unnecessary GTK3 dependency if the desktop environment is GTK2-based or vice versa.

Installation Instructions

Enable this repo in dnf, then install xiccd:

dnf copr enable abhis3k/xiccd dnf install xiccd

If your desktop environment supports autostarting applications in /etc/xdg/autostart, xiccd should be started automatically on login. xiccd will then register your display devices with colord and apply display calibrations if available. Make sure you do not have any other calibration loaders enabled (like xcalib, dispwin from ArgyllCMS or displaycal-apply-profiles from DisplayCAL). Also, do not try to use xiccd with KDE or GNOME, they already come with color management support built-in.

You can install color profiles directly from DisplayCAL or manually using the following command:

colormgr import-profile PROFILE.icc
